Getting Started
What is Oculta
Oculta is a desktop application that lets you turn AI prompts into keyboard shortcuts. It runs as an invisible overlay on top of any app (Gmail, Slack, Notion, Word, your browser) and stays completely hidden during screen shares and recordings. Select text, press a shortcut, and get instant AI results without switching tabs.
Download & Install
- Available for macOS (Apple Silicon & Intel) and Windows (64-bit).
- Download from oculta.ai or your Dashboard.
- Install like any desktop app. Drag to Applications on Mac or run the installer on Windows.
- On macOS you may need to allow the app in System Settings > Privacy & Security.
Signing In
- Open the Oculta desktop app.
- Click Sign In. Your default browser opens to oculta.ai.
- Sign in or create an account.
- The browser automatically redirects back to the desktop app.
- You're authenticated. Your plan and settings sync automatically.
The Oculta Window
- Oculta appears as a floating overlay on top of all your apps.
- It's always on top but completely transparent to screen capture.
- When you're not interacting with it, clicks pass through to the app behind it (click-through mode).
- Toggle visibility with
⌘B. - Move the window with
⌘ + Arrow keys.
Core Features
Grammar Correction
⌘GFix grammar, spelling, and punctuation in any app with a single keystroke. The correction popup is completely invisible during screen shares and recordings.
- Select text in any application (email, document, chat, etc.).
- Press ⌘G (Cmd+G on Mac, Ctrl+G on Windows).
- A popup appears with the corrected text.
- Click Accept to replace your text, or Dismiss to cancel.
- Optionally nudge by typing follow-up instructions like "make it more casual" or "shorten it" to refine the result.
Grammar Preferences
- Formality: Casual, Neutral, or Formal tone.
- Preserve original style: Keep your writing voice while fixing errors.
- Markdown output: Return corrections in markdown format.
- Output language: Same as input, English, or Spanish.
- Custom rules: Add up to 10 personal rules (e.g., "Always use Oxford commas").
Invisible Notes
⌘NA minimal, transparent notepad that floats over your screen.
- Press ⌘N to toggle notes on/off.
- Notes are stored locally on your device only and never sent to any server.
- Use ⌘A to scroll up and ⌘W to scroll down.
- Perfect for keeping reference info visible during meetings or work sessions.
- Notes persist between app restarts.
Screenshot Analysis
⌘HCapture and analyze your screen with AI. Results appear in an invisible popup that stays hidden during screen shares and recordings.
- Press ⌘H (Cmd+H / Ctrl+H).
- Oculta captures a screenshot of your current screen.
- AI analyzes the content and identifies text, UI elements, error messages, code, charts, and data patterns.
- Results appear in a popup window.
- You can nudge the result to ask follow-up questions about what's on screen.
On macOS, you may need to grant Screen Recording permission the first time.
Undetectable AI Chat
A full conversational AI assistant built into Oculta. The entire chat interface is invisible during screen shares, recordings, and screenshots, so no one can see your conversation.
- Ask any question and get streaming AI responses.
- Attach screenshots to your messages for visual context.
- Web search: Toggle on to get answers with real-time information.
- Full conversation history within the session.
- Choose your AI model (see AI Models).
- Nudge any response with follow-up instructions.
Custom AI Shortcuts
Create your own keyboard shortcuts that run custom AI prompts. All result popups are invisible during screen shares and recordings.
How to create a custom shortcut
- Open the Oculta desktop app.
- Create a new skill. Give it a name, prompt, and shortcut key.
- Configure the input type:
- None: Runs with no input.
- Selected text: Uses highlighted text.
- Screenshot: Captures your screen.
- Text prompt: Shows a field for you to type.
- Configure the output type:
- Show text: Displays in a popup.
- Accept / Decline: Shows result with buttons.
- Paste directly: Types the result at your cursor.
- Clipboard: Copies to clipboard.
- Optionally set a system instruction, select an AI model, and enable web browsing.
- Save. The skill syncs to your desktop app in real-time.

Custom Shortcuts
When you create custom AI shortcuts, you assign them unused key combinations. Reserved keys (B, G, H, N, T, R, A, W, Q, Enter, arrows) cannot be used. Available keys include ⌘J, ⌘K, ⌘L, ⌘M, and others.

Managing Your Account
Dashboard
Visit your Dashboard to view your current plan, usage stats, and account details.
Upgrading Your Plan
Go to the Pricing page and select your desired plan. Payment is processed securely through Stripe. Your new plan activates immediately.
Changing or Cancelling
- Upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time.
- Changes take effect at the end of your current billing period.
- After cancelling, you retain access until the period ends, then revert to Free.
Billing
- Subscriptions renew automatically (monthly or yearly).
- Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal to avoid charges.
- All payments handled by Stripe. Oculta never sees your card details.
Deleting Your Account
To permanently delete your account and all associated data, contact info@oculta.ai.

Yes. Oculta is a system-level overlay that runs on top of every application on your computer: Gmail, Slack, Notion, Word, VS Code, your browser, and anything else. You never need to switch tabs or windows.
No. Everything in Oculta is completely invisible during screen shares, video calls, screen recordings, and screenshots. This includes the main overlay, grammar correction popups, AI chat, screenshot analysis results, and custom shortcut outputs. It works on both macOS and Windows using native OS-level capture protection. There is nothing the viewer or recording software can do to reveal it.
You’ll see a message that you’ve hit your monthly limit of 50 grammar corrections. You can upgrade to Basic or higher for unlimited corrections, or wait until your usage resets on the 1st of each month.
Yes. Your account works across devices. Install the desktop app on each computer and sign in with the same account. Your plan, usage, and custom shortcuts sync automatically.
It depends on your plan. Free uses Google Gemini Flash, Basic uses GPT-4.1 Mini, Pro uses GPT-4.1, and Ultra uses Claude Sonnet 4.5 by default. Ultra users can switch between all available models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, DeepSeek, and xAI.
Screenshots, text, and audio are processed temporarily to generate AI responses and are not permanently stored. We do not train AI models on your data. Account and subscription data is maintained while your account is active.
Open the Oculta desktop app, create a new skill with your prompt template, choose an input type (text, screenshot, or prompt), select an output type (show, paste, or copy), assign a keyboard shortcut, and save. It syncs to your desktop app instantly.
You can cancel anytime from the Pricing page or through your billing portal. Your plan stays active until the end of the current billing period, then reverts to Free. No cancellation fees.
After getting an AI result (grammar correction, screenshot analysis, or skill output), you can type a follow-up instruction to refine it. For example: "make it more formal", "shorter", "add bullet points", or "explain in simpler terms". The AI will revise its response based on your nudge.
Not yet. Oculta is currently available for macOS and Windows only. Linux support may be added in the future.
Yes. Oculta processes all AI requests through our cloud API. An active internet connection is required for grammar correction, chat, screenshot analysis, and custom shortcuts. Invisible Notes work offline since they’re stored locally.
No. Oculta is a desktop-only application designed for keyboard-driven workflows on macOS and Windows.
